Seeds of Hope
This is the Immaculate Conception Church farm ministry (run by non-farmers with the help of
knowledgeable farmers) to help feed the local poor by growing and delivering food to local food pantries.
Important Next date!
The next significant date is Saturday May 24th. We will have a short blessing ceremony and then do the
2nd tilling and planting. Please join us even if it is just for the blessing. There will be more details a time goes on related to this and other dates. We need: newspapers (lots of newspapers) for ground cover and we need roto-tillers (the more the better and we can till different areas simultaneously).
If you can not work the farm on Saturday but can lend the materials, it would be helpful to drop the items off for others to use. See Location information below.
Commitment
The commitment can be as much as you like or as little as you like. We are asking for about 1 hour each day to perform the basic tasks, which include
watering, weeding, harvesting and delivering harvested food to the High Bridge food pantry. We suggest spreading out the work by having each family
sign up for one week from now through October. There will be instructions on the information board at the farm giving more detail and
specifics to these tasks as the exact needs change. One of the ideas behind having as many people help as possible is that it spreads out the work
of farming. We encourage people to create "teams" or join forces with another family to split a week to make the work even lighter. If you invite
others.
Location
The address is 5 Deer Run in Bethlehem Township. Take 31 North almost exactly 5 miles from route 78; take a left onto Glen Manor Drive; go .5 miles and take a right onto Deer Run (dirt road marked private drive). To get to the farm, drive straight through to the back of the cul-de-sac and through the opening of the hedgerow and drive about another 500 feet. The Seeds of Hope farm is to the left and has a fence around it.
The following is a link to a google map of the area (use the satellite view to see where the farm area is): Seeds Of Hope Farm
Peace and God bless!
